Hood River Distillers has been a fixture in our area of Oregon since 1934—in fact, it’s the Northwest’s oldest and largest importer, distiller, and producer of spirits. Hood River Distillers also bottles and markets these tasty beverages. The company first began with exploring the world of fruit wines and brandies, using excess fruit from the abundant harvest of apples and pears from the surrounding Hood River orchards.
Hood River Distillers is located on the Columbia River with Mt. Hood as a stunning backdrop, but you’ll find the tasting room located in downtown Hood River. Tucked next to some of the best Hood River restaurants and breweries, stopping in for spirit samples, mini-cocktails, or bar-related swag is a great addition to any visit to our beautiful riverfront town. The knowledgeable staff is always welcoming and full of interesting history and distillery info.
As a guest at our Hood River Bed and Breakfast, you’ll be within walking distance to the tasting room at Hood River Distillers—a preferred method of transportation when cocktails are involved. The short stroll takes you through the tree-lined streets of our picturesque neighborhood. You can’t help but notice the absolutely stunning water and mountain views peeking out at you from around each bend.

There are so many awesome things to do in Hood River and many of them are accessible on foot from our downtown Bed and Breakfast. The Hood River Distillers tasting room is one of those things! We recommend adding a stop here pre-dinner for a cocktail and some shopping for a bottle to take home or some of their branded cocktail gear.
Here are four things to know about Hood River Distillers before you grab a drink:
- The roots of Hood River Distillers run deep in this part of Oregon, especially since they’re the oldest and largest distillery in the Northwest. The current bottling facility on the Columbia River has been home to the beverage company since 1969. While many upgrades and expansions have taken place over the years.
- The downtown Hood River Distillers tasting room is a great spot to check out for a large selection of spirits for sampling, creative mini-cocktails, house-made gift arrangements, and cool bar swag. The Hood River Distillers tasting room is open daily from noon to 6 pm, so it’s perfect for an after-lunch or pre-dinner drink.
- The spirits you’ll see behind the bar range from floral gins from Seattle’s Big Gin and Timberline vodka to Double Mountain’s hopped whiskey and Clear Creek Distilleries brandies.
- They also offer an array of house-made cocktails, divided into categories by spirit. One of the best parts of a visit to Hood River Distillers is if you have a drink that you love, the recipe is available here and you can get all the ingredients to make them at home or back at our Hood River Bed and Breakfast.
